BROKEN SONNET - HALE
one of the most heartbreaking lines of all time for me.. “But still i see the tears from your eyes, maybe i’m just not the one for you”
HALE
Hale, the band that promises to highlight their musical versatility and excellent vocalism in alternative rock genre and yet emanates a very sad undertone that they describe as “melodrama.” (melodious drama) All from the southern part of the metro (Las Pinas, Alabang and Paranaque), Hale is composed of Champ Lui-Pio’s (lead vocals and guitars)heart-on-sleeve vocals and the group’s songwriting exude feelings and melody, much to the delight of the melancholic youth in search of a like-minded voice. Roll Martinez (guitars and vocals)with his lyrical powers, believes that there’s so much to spell in words through songs where exudes a very ironic yet compelling poetic piece, “Broken Sonnet”—the band’s first single with EMI Music. In synch with Sheldon Gellada’s expertise on bass, he also contributed heartfelt and experience-based songs infectious to his personal musical influences that excel in his instrumental virtuosity to grandiose rock. And with then-sessionist Omnie Saroca on drums, an artist whose music used to steep in cool mainstream reggae now switched to melodic rock.

PICTURE PICTURE- TANYA MARKOVA
TANYA MARKOVA
Initially formed in the late 2004, Tanya Markova was a brainchild of 2 musically-inclined underachievers who one day decided to just hang out and vent their frustration in life through cigarettes and stupid conversation. Harlon Agsaoay ( aka Norma Love , vocalist, co-songwriter, tambourine) informed Angelo del Pilar (aka Iwa Motors, vocalist, co-songwriter, bell ringer) that he had recently watched a Marilyn Manson documentary and thought he is an attention-seeking genius that’s why he became America’s public enemy when it comes to notoriety, the latter, who is Manson’s number one fan agreed —- and the rest is history. Iwa immediately thought of an idea to combine sappy melodies (Brian Wilsonesque)and scary, caricature-driven lyrics, then they decided to compose songs filled with sarcasm, idiocy, and childish ramblings. During those times the song they’ve created were only meant to be a joke, with nonsensical titles like Yak my Bulate, Mahirap Maging Bopis, and Hoy Bampira ako Takot ka na? (later shortened to Bampira and the first song they’ve ever completed). It took several months before they could find members who would agree to their concept, and almost 2 years to complete the line-up and perform live onstage. (bu107.COM, 2010)
BLAHBLAH 4 UPDHARMA
Up dharma down is one of my favorite bands here in our country. And i’ve only got a chance to see them live for the first time, last Friday! They have an excellent sound when performing live, or even better than what we hear on their cd. If i were you guys, i would find time to listen and see them live, because it’s really worth your time. PROMISE.
Their songs, well which is mostly about heartbreaks, sad love and the like, made their listeners relate to them. Kahit nga hindi ka heartbroken oh malungkot sa pag-ibig, makakarelate ka sa mga kanta, that’s how good they are.(WHETHER YOU TAKE IT LITERALLY OR METAPHORICALLY) Walang bola.
Who would’nt remember these lines? Malas mo, ikaw ang natipuhan ko. OR! Ako, sila’y nandito na, ikaw na lang ang kulang. Right? Right?
OO- UPDHARMADOWN
SANA- UPDHARMADOWN
UP DHARMA DOWN
Up dharma Down is a Manila-based band that has interestingly combined musical boundaries in their songs. Many of their listeners have tried to give their music a tag, but even the four attest to the fact that the only way to understand this nameless genre is to press play. BBC U.K. thru Mark Cole’s radio show and Time Magazine Asia have helped push their music internationally. (updharmadown.com, 2010)
RECORD BREAKER- SARAH GERONIMO
SARAH GERONIMO
From a diva image to being Fierce. (I like her image now than before) Hands down to this girl’s talent. Her versatility would make her stay in the music industry for long.
